Lieutenant Colonel Edward Fenton, Commanding Officer of The Black Watch, 3rd Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland, will talk about the Battalion's recent deployment to Helmand Province, Afghanistan. This will be a unique opportunity to hear about the situation and role of the 3rd Battalion.

This is the second year The Black Watch cocktail party will be hosted by the Friends. The evening will be held in the grounds of Balhousie Castle with guests sharing in drinks, canapes and conversation.

Victoria Schofield is a distingushed published author and journalist specialising in military and Asian history. She has written many books including the biography Wavell: Solider and Stateman and most recently The Offical Regimental History - 'The Highland Furies' The Black Watch 1739-1899. In this lecture Victoria Schofield will discuss how she came to write history, she will share her methodology for doing so, reveal what surprises she encountered and how fascinating it is.
