The Black Watch Cocktail Party took place at Balhousie Castle on the evening of Thursday 21st July. This is the first year that the Friends of The Black Watch Castle and Museum have hosted the event. The evening was a great success! Over 170 members of Regimental family and Friends of The Black Watch Castle & Museum braved the Perthshire weather to attend the party which took place in the Wavell Gardens within the stunning grounds of the historic Balhousie Castle. Many of our long standing and new Friends came together to indulge in a choice selection of drinks and canopies whilst appreciating a fine selection of music played by The Perth and District Pipe Band. The Friends Committee would like to say a big THANK YOU to all the museum volunteers who gave their time to help us get ready for the day. We are very grateful to our sponsor for the evening Steven Brown Electrical Ltd whose generous support will assist us in meeting the cost of the evening.

We had planned to have our first Casino Night at the Castle in August. Unfortunately, due to the current work commitments of our Friends committee we have reluctantly taken the decision to postpone this event. We hope to reschedule and are in talks with the Kirriemuir Rotary Club to set a new date, probably in late October. We will inform you of the new date through our August newsletter and on these web pages. You should note that we have some fantastic prizes to be won on this evening including a 4 night mini-cruise Norway and The Orkneys courtesy of with Fred.Olsen Cruise Lines.
Due to unforeseen circumstances the Casino Night at the Castle has been cancelled. We do apologise for any inconvenience caused.
We wanted to let all our Friends know about the latest book we have on offer. This new short history is beautifully illustrated with images of artefacts and photographs from the collections. It is the perfect companion to a tour of The Black Watch Museum and will serve as a great memento of your visit. If you are not able to visit our museum, this book is the next best thing. The book was produced in partnership with Perth & Kinross Heritage Trust and costs £5.00. You can purchase from the online museum shop or if you are nearby pop in and pick up your copy. All proceeds are in aid of The Black Watch Museum Trust.
