July 2011

We have reviewed our visitor questionnaire and made some slight changes. This is reflected in the feedback information you will see on our notice board and website pages.

WHAT DID YOU LIKE?

“I like the guide as it is informative but not too much information”

“Loved the Kennedy collection”

“Enjoyed very much learning about The Black Watch”

“We especially liked the way each section was split into rooms”

“Good photographic and pictorial information”

“Very informative for those who have no connections but are interested”

“Enjoyed very much the ladies restoring the tapestries”

“I liked how the labelling put the object into context”

“Trying on the clothes”

Thank you for your comments. We’re glad when visitors enjoy their time at the Museum. It is pleasing to see that recent improvements to the Museum are noticed and appreciated.

We’re pleased that the guide is useful.  In addition, we’ve just produced a new short history of The Black Watch. It is available to buy online at www.theblack watch.co.uk and in the Museum shop. It’s a bargain at £5!

WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER?

“Suggest the lighting on items on the walls should be improved”

Much of the lighting has been dimmed down in line with guidelines to minimise damage to wall-mounted items.

“Room 8 VHS not a patch on Room 10 in content or quality”

We’re sorry to hear that this short film didn’t measure up. Many of our visitors greatly enjoy watching it!

“Not enough on Tyneside and Royal Highlanders”

The Tyneside are a very small but important part of the history of Regiments affiliated to The Black Watch. We will certainly bear in mind for the future that visitors would like to know more.

“Better labelling in passageway of 1914-18 Allied Victory medals”

These items are labelled using our standard label size, designed to be discrete but legible and informative.
