“The layout – a clearly marked route through the museum”
“Wonderfully detailed exhibit (all of the museum)”
“All of the narratives and the stories of the individuals”
“The huge array of historical artefacts”
“Presentation very good”
“The history – especially having a family connection”
“Well done – realistic displays post WW1”
“The separate room of topics”
“Portraits and personal stories”
Thank you for your comments. We’re glad when visitors enjoy their time at the Museum. It is pleasing to see that recent improvements to the Museum are noticed and appreciated.
“The lighting in some areas”
It is difficult to get a balance of lighting that suits the collection and the visitors. Some areas have to be kept darker than others to help preserve fragile items.
“More battle engagement details”
I’m sorry we didn’t speak more about the battles you were interested in! We try to have a balance between details of prominent battles and human interest too. But for in-depth detail we recommend reading a regimental history or two – they include so much more information than we will ever be able to include in the Museum!
“Dioramas do not really hold attention (although videos do)”
As technology moves on, so do we! These dioramas were cutting edge a few years ago. We’re looking at more modern ways to engage visitors in the future.
“Use motion sensor lighting as many people don’t seem to know how to read, please turn the lights off”
Motion sensitive lighting is something we are looking in to for the museum redevelopment. As it is costly to install, this is a long term aspiration!
“More prominent advertising”
If visitors have suggestions about where and how we could better advertise the Castle & Museum we would be happy to hear about it!
Details of medals – meaning and campaigns for those who are interested but are not military buffs – a great way to spend a couple of hours”
Something for us to bear in mind for the mid-term. We’re already planning on more of this type of information for the museum redevelopment.
