Around two hundred and fifty veterans from across the country and their wives along with eleven serving soldiers from the Black Watch Battalion rear party at Fort George attended the event.
Brigadier Edward de Broe Fergusson, the Association Chairman addressed the meeting whilst the Reverend Norman Drummond a former Black Watch chaplain conducted the service, lessons were read by Lieutenant Colonel Roddy Riddell and Major Ronnie Proctor from the Black Watch Headquarters at Balhousie Castle. Brigadier Mike Riddell Webster, the newly appointed Representative Colonel of the Black Watch Battalion also gave an address.Reverend Norman Drummond also expressed those feeling of those present regarding the tragic loss of Corporal Sean Binnie who was killed in Helmand Province last week. Despite at times the torrential rain, spirits remained high.
Piper Jimmy Doig and the Standard Bearers of the Black Watch Association and The Korean Veterans Association take part in the Service of Thanksgiving which was held at the Black Watch Memorial, Aberfeldy on the 10th May 2009.
