National Award for the Black Watch Museum

The Black Watch Museum was the second military museum in Scotland to have received the prestigious Museum Accreditation award, and have gone through a strict vetting process to ensure that they meet the correct criteria for Full Accreditation. This included: a full audit and the improvement of their Collection policy; enhanced documentation of their archive; and the achievement of excellence in Museum standards.

Alfie Iannetta, the CEO for the Black Watch Museum Trust, commented, "Our Museum management team and staff have worked tirelessly to attain this National Accreditation. The Trustees are proud that the Museum and everyone at Balhousie Castle have been rewarded for all the hard work the team have put in to this award and feel that this milestone further enhances our position as one of the Scotland most unique visitor experiences."

Minister for Culture, Michael Russell, said, "The Black Watch Museum displays an amazing variety of artefacts which illustrate the rich history of Scotland's best known and oldest Highland Regiment. I'm delighted that this unique and special collection has received National Accreditation and would like to congratulate everyone at the Museum for their good work."
