Lord Airlie welcomed into The Black Watch regimental family

David Ogilvie, 13th Earl of Airlie, heads a distinguished family with strong connections with The Black Watch.  His father was Honorary Colonel of the 4th\5th Territorial Battalion of the Regiment.

He has taken a keen interest in the affairs of the Regiment over many years and he regularly attends the General Meetings of The Black Watch Association.  Earlier this year, at the invitation of the Regimental Trustees, Lord Airlie agreed to be President of The Black Watch Heritage Appeal and he is a most energetic and effective leader of our Appeal.

At the formal launch of the Appeal on the 2nd September, the Chairman of the Regimental Trustees, Lieutenant-General Sir Alistair Irwin, presented Lord Airlie with a regimental tie formally to welcome him into the regimental family.

He commented: ‘You have made and are continuing to make an enormous contribution to the Regiment and to our Appeal and I hope you will accept this small token of our gratitude for all that you do for us and as a symbol of your membership of The Black Watch regimental family.’
