The Friends of The Black Watch Castle and Museum was launched in October 2010. The Friends support the work of the museum and its staff to preserve the legacy of The Black Watch Regiment and its Regimental home at Balhousie Castle, Perth. The Friends play an important role in the advancement of the museum education programme, conservation of the collection and the acquisition of artefacts and archive material.
The Friends have a stimulating calendar of events planned for this year. One of these events will take place on Thursday 17th March. Major Colin Innes will give a lecture on the life of Sir Thomas Graham KB, Lord Lynedoch 1748-1843. The lecture will include discussions of Sir Thomas Graham’s early life and his role as an agricultural moderniser, his marriage to the former Honourable Mary Cathcart, his military career and his time as an MP. Major Innes, Alfie Iannetta, Chief Executive, Black Watch Museum Trust and John Hulbert, The Lord Provost of Perth visited Perth Museum to view the magnificent painting of Sir Thomas Graham by Thomas Gainsborough. 
The lecture will take place at the Perth Museum and Art Gallery from 7.30pm-9.30pm. The event will begin with a short reception during which wine and canapés will be served followed by the lecture. Tickets for this event are £15.00. For those who are already Friends the ticket price is £5.00. Booking is essential for this event.
