Shapes Valuation Day

SHAPES EVENT 10TH MARCH 2011

The Friends of The Black Watch Castle and Museum hosted the Shapes event at Balhousie Castle and Museum on Thursday 10th March.

We had a fabulous day when a team from Shapes Fine Art Auctioneers and Valuers visited the Castle to host an Antique Valuation Day. Emma Scott, Regional Development Officer arrived with valuers Hamish Wilson, Dr Thomson and Richard Longwill. The team arrived and set up their stations just in time for the early morning rush. We had visitors from near and far pay us a visit. There was a host of antiques that came through our doors – jewellery, watches, paintings, plates, dolls, vases and many more. Some visitors brought in items just to find out what it was! We had many a smiling face leave the Castle. The day was a great success. We hope to plan some more exciting events with Shapes in the future. Keep checking our website for details.

The picture above shows Hamish Wilson casting his expert eye over an antique. The picture to the right shows Richard Longwill, Emma Scott and Hamish Wilson (Shapes staff) standing in front of The Black Watch Battle Honours wall in the museum shop.

All money raised on the day will go to the Friends organisation. This money will be used to support the work of the museum and its staff to preserve the legacy of the Black Watch and it's Regimental home at Balhousie Castle.

See the Courier website for more coverage of the event.
