Friends Keynote Lecture

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission: Past and Present
Perth Museum and Art Gallery
Thursday 29th September
7.00-8.30pm

The venue for our Keynote Lecture is Perth Museum and Art Gallery. The evening will begin at 7pm with a wine reception. The lecture will commence at 7.30pm.Our esteemed speaker is Lieutenant General Sir Alistair Irwin KCB CBE. Sir Alistair is the Friends Presidant, Chairman of The Black Watch Museum Trust and Vice Chairman of The Commonwealth War Graves Commission. The illustrated talk will start by recounting the story of the origins of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, will go on to describe the current organisation, what it does and how it does it. The talk will conclude with the fascinating story of the recent discovery of mass graves near Fromelles and the construction of the first completely new CWGC cemetery for 50 years.

Casino Night at The Castle
Balhousie Castle, Perth
Saturday 8th October 2011
7.30-11.00pm

We are holding our first Casino Night at The Castle. The evening will kick off at 7.30pm when guests will be treated to a complimentary glass of wine and allocated some playing chips. If guests are feeling lucky they are welcome to buy more playing chips and double their luck! Games to play will include; chuck a luck, blackjack and roulette. There will be cash bar available. All chips won will be exchanged at the end of the night for tickets to the raffle. The more tickets you have the more chance of winning some the fantastic prizes which include; a four night cruise courtesy of Fred.Olsen Cruise Lines, 7 nights accommodation in a townhouse in Umbertide, Umbria, Italy and much more.

Friends Annual General Meeting

The Friends first AGM will take place on Wednesday 9th November 2011, 6pm at Balhousie Castle. We have sent an invitation and formal notice to all the Friends.
