Title: Scotland and The Great War - What does the Centenary mean for us?
Description: Professor Sir Hew Strachan, Chichele Professor of the History of War at All Souls Oxford, will deliver a key note address on Tuesday 7th October to mark the centenary of the outbreak of the Great War. In his talk he will explore the military experience of the war for Scotland, how that was remembered and how it differed from the rest of the UK.
He will conclude by exploring how remembering this centenary may be of use to us in 2014 and by projecting forward to how things might be by 2018.
