“So many fascinating artefacts from all over the world.”

“Medal and silver display.”
“The general layout and pipe music.”
“Personal biographies.”
“Very good family activities.”
“Excellent welcome and introduction.”
Thank you for your comments. We’re glad when visitors enjoy their time at the Museum. It is pleasing to see that recent improvements to the Museum are noticed and appreciated.
“More about Iraq and Afghanistan.”
We have two displays in Room 10 – one dedicated to Iraq, and one to Afghanistan. We have an interesting display of all the objects we have in the collection from both periods, with information about both campaigns. We also try to keep visitors up-to-date with current campaigns when 3 SCOTS are deployed to Afghanistan we will have real time info on display.
“Some display cases are a little tall.”
We hope that the redeveloped museum will make the collection more accessible to all. Cases will be better laid out and contents better interpreted.
“Room layout and guidance.”
We struggle with making sure all visitors know about how to navigate our old museum building and we’re always striving to improve it – there’s always one who gets lost! We think we’ve covered our bases, between the staff intro, signs in the shop (and throughout the building) and the guide with map. But suggestions are always welcome.
“More interactive.”
We plan to have more interactives in our new museum – both using digital media and hands on activities. Hopefully there will something for everyone. Ideas are welcome!
“Education room for school visits.”
We have included an education room in the plans for our extension to the building. It will be suitable for school groups, family activity sessions and lectures – amongst many other things.
“It would be good if there was a stair lift or lift for older people.”
A lift to the first and second floors is planned for the redeveloped museum. The constraints of the Grade B listed building has meant that access has been an issue.
“Expand!”
Though we won’t be expanding per se, the redeveloped museum opening in 2013 will be better in many ways. We envisage it will be better laid out and have better and more meaningful displays. Watch this space…
